Hollywood Hippo is a movie/TV blog. It was created by Derlyne as an outlet to share her passion for television and film. As a self-proclaimed couch potato and real-life introvert, from a very young age, Derlyne has loved television. She immigrated to the United States from Haiti in 1990 and television played a major role in her learning how to speak English as she would spend countless hours watching soap operas, game shows, and various movies and television shows.

In 2020, Derlyne began toying with the idea of documenting her passion via a blog and in April 2021, she took the leap and started her blog. Hollywood Hippo is intended to be a social forum where subscribers can share their opinions on movies and shows they’ve watched.
